Hans Hartmann is chief software architect for Generali, Austria (http://www.generali.at), one of the world's leading insurance companies. Having studied industrial electronics at the Technical University of Vienna, Mr. Hartmann has 30 years of experience in system and application computer programming. His engagement in image analysis and micro-spectral photometry resulted in several patents in the field of micro-photometry. Other programming fields include radar systems for aviation and security applications. His international work experience in both technical development and sales covers Europe, the former Soviet Union, China, Japan and other Asian countries. He has taught Information Systems at a Viennese college (Fachhochschule für Hotellerie und Tourismus-Management) and is currently lecturing at the university of Leipzig, FRG (Software Engineering für große, betriebliche Informationssysteme). He has been a technical trainer in France, Great Britain, the former Soviet Union, China and Japan.
Prior to his current job, Mr. Hartmann was general test manager for five years in the same company. He considers testing one of the biggest challenges of today's computer development, not only because successful testing requires the overcoming of an array of technical difficulties, but also because the tester must possess ever more psychological, technical and interpersonal capabilities – heretofore underestimated in the computer programming profession – to do his or her job well. |

Besides loving his work, he enjoys playing the piano and digesting good literature. He also loves dogs.
